Parky Players

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2018 at the age of 47 and formed a theatre group “Parky Players” during lockdown to raise awareness of the largely misunderstood condition.

They’ve gone from creating an award-winning online panto to developing it into a UK tour culminating in 3 performances at Edinburgh Fringe 2022.

Since then they’ve won the 2023 World Parkinson’s Congress song competition and performed (the song they wrote) in Barcelona in front of 2000 people.

The latest comedy sketch show Shaken Not Stirred was written and performed by Parky Players. Sketches feature villains and heroes working for and against 007 in his quest to find a cure for Parkinson’s.

Witty, thought provoking and often silly, this show changes perceptions, raises awareness of what it is to have Parkinson’s, and what is still achievable after diagnosis.

We received 4-star theatre reviews and received a nomination for the Neurodiverse Review Award for championing disability in theatre and won The Inaugural Gary Robson Memorial Award.
